Peter Pan at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe – Thursday 3rd – Sunday 13th August

What can we say? We were a group of 20 at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe this year and it was such a pleasure having this wonderful group with us this year. They had been rehearsing since May but fairly flexibly due to exam commitments and in July, we rehearsed more intensely for the last 10 days before performing twice at our rehearsal venue – the Scout Hut and then up to Edinburgh on the train.

We stayed in a hostel about 400m away from the venue we were performing in which made our lives in the morning so much easier, particularly on Friday 4th August when we had our tech rehearsal starting at 7.30am! We also had our first sold out performance at 10.20am on that day and the company smashed it. After this, we found a morning rhythm of waking up, breakfast, warm up, get in, performance, get out, photos with the children in the audience, flyering on the Royal Mile in costumes before back to the hostel to change, have lunch and meet for notes and discussions on food that evening and shows. This was the same routine for 9 days with free time from 2.00pm onwards!

We had 5 sold out shows out of 9 and were 90% capacity across all shows. We had families that had seen us last year who had returned because they had enjoyed it so much. We are definitely beginning to gain a reputation up there now which is so lovely for all of us. The return journey on the train was very quiet with some very happy but very tired people travelling to Newark.

We will be performing Peter Pan at the Bonington Theatre on Friday 22nd and Saturday 23rd December so hope to see as many Flying High families as possible as it is such a great show.
