Nottingham Light Night – Saturday 3rd February

Where do we start to explain what a fabulous time we all had? This was another wonderful opportunity for our dance group which involved working in collaboration with Tom Dale Company (a professional dance company and charity based in Nottingham) to create a dance piece for Nottingham Light Night 2024.

The dance group worked with two dancer/choreographers Sophie and Kiera over 5 sessions to build a piece to be performed at the Nottingham Contemporary in the Lace Market. Around 800 people came to watch our dance surrounding the dance space which was part of a bigger professional performance lasting around 20 minutes. The solo professional dancer, Jemima performed to begin the piece, followed by ReSet, a youth dance company based in Beeston, Jemima again, Flying High Youth Dance and Jemima completed the piece.

Tom Dale Company is well known for their use of digital projections and music so the experience was unique to us in that overhead projections were used to fit the timings of the music perfectly. Each of the 5 sections had a different projection and the choreography and performances were spectacular. The feedback from parents and the audience was wonderful and we all felt incredibly proud to have been invited by Tom Dale Company to be part of the project.
