17 Jul Flying High Annual Summer Showcase 2026

Our annual showcase at the Bonington Theatre was such a joy to see. Again this year we made the decision to create separate Junior and Senior Showcases with all participants performing their pieces once. This made a huge difference to the length of the showcases which was a relief to all of us on such a hot day! Going forward to next year, we will be operating the same format.
We had some wonderful pieces created and performed including a medley of songs from ‘The Sound of Music’, a fabulous dance piece based on the idea of Alice in Wonderland, group versions of scripts or well-known stories such as ‘The Emperor’s New Clothes’, devised pieces such as the ‘Cow Moo-Der Mystery’,  ‘The Great British Summer’ and fairytale characters in a version of ‘Into The Woods’.
In addition, we had a Junior Youth Theatre piece developed around the plight of the evacuees during the Blitz and a Senior piece focused on historical female figures and the difference of their lives to young people today as well as our brave and confident Lamda students sharing their exam pieces and their developing acting skills.
Thank you for supporting our showcase this year and the Young Company’s tombola with generous donations of gifts and buying tickets. The money raised will help pay for the food up in Edinburgh as well as seeing some shows and the all-important hoodies to promote the show. It is appreciated so much.
Next year’s Showcase is already booked for Saturday 10th July 2027 so please keep this day free if you possibly can as well as our Christmas Showcase on Sunday 13th December 2026.
