Christmas Showcase 2023 – Sunday 10th December

Our annual Christmas Showcase took place on Sunday 10th December at The Good Shepherd Church Hall, Thackery’s Lane, Woodthorpe. We had two Showcases – one for predominantly younger groups and the other for mainly older groups.

All the pieces created with the young people were really lovely and were performed with enthusiasm and energy by all the members of the groups. The range of ideas and concepts covered were both entertaining and intriguing from our youngest group’s storytelling of the ‘Elves and the Toymaker’ to the wonderful pantomime of our Senior Drama group with mystery stories of Skellig and a missing girl, the meaning of Christmas, stories from the Polar Express and A Christmas Carol, a little piece of Shakespeare, excerpts from this year’s NT Connections Play and a dance to the latest John Lewis advert music as well as songs from Peter Pan. Lovely imagination and creative ideas developed for us all to enjoy.

The Young Company worked hard to make some delicious cakes and the tombola was very popular. We started a ‘Guess the number of sweets in the jar’ but we have decided to continue to raise funds over the two days of Peter Pan shows next week. We will then contact the person whose answer was nearest to the number and deliver the sweets.

Thank you for all your support and donations. The Young Company raised just over £300 which was fantastic and your support meant so much.
